| Consider this: Give two different Chefs a bunch of asparagus and one might throw it in a steamer until it comes out all nasty, olive green, limp, and "stankin" smelly. Another Chef'll finely prepare it into a delicately balanced Cream of Asparagus Bisque, a Roma Tomato, Bacon, and Asparagus Quiche, or maybe sauteed with Yellow Bell Peppers and a grilled Steak. You wouldn't let a Chef take a Lobster tail and deep-fat French-fry it, right? Or or put Nacho Cheese sauce on a Filet Mignon, would you?! You wouldn't want your Tax preparer to overlook huge deductions and credits upon having reams of actual receipts & workpapers available, right?! You wouldn't want an Auto Mechanic to repair your Lexus with parts from an old Chevy station wagon/duct tape; am I right?! (Of course I'm right!) Now really, isn't that what you're really looking for: someone who can actually do the job? An older Jewish gentleman on the North Shore who worked as a top executive for a Fortune 500 corporation wanted to make all of these elaborate modifications to his already distinctive residence: oversized doors for a pristine Lake Michigan view, French Casements with a wonderful expanse of his wife's beautiful garden, all new interior doors with custom trim mouldings... and at the end of lots and lots of design planning he looks at me square in the eye and says, "Can you actually DO all this?" (I thought it was such a refreshingly honest, genuine question...) to which I of course stood up and exclaimed, "[Heck] yeah!". I still get Holiday cards from them every so often and once, while in the Panera Bread on Green Bay Road around lunchtime, the wife came up and gave me a big old hug! You know, it used to be that skilled craftspersons were the most respected citizens within their community. And alot of that has slipped-away as a result of a more transient society with a lack of alternatives... even in a city as big as Chicago (which is why we also compile whole teams to perform installs out-of-state). We will be a trusted resource for you. |
